Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court after that period of 2023.

Success also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had caused some to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to create a decider.

He defended 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
